Écologie : (répartition d'après la flore) Pelouses, landes, bois, surtout dans l'Ouest, le Centre, l'Est.
Répartition hors de France : Europe occidentale et centrale.

A slender, purplish annual 20-30 cm high, either simple or with a few strict branches.
Ecology UK: (distribution according to flora) It occurs on moors and heaths throughout the British Isles commonly in the north and west.
Fleurs : grappe raide, grêle, allongée ; calice de 3-4 mm, non accrescent, glabre, à lobes lancéolés-aigus, égalant presque le tube, corolle de 4-6 mm, blanchâtre ou violacée, à lèvre inférieure tachée de jaune, la supérieure à lobes entiers
Floraison France : Juin-octobre.
Flowers: 4-6 mm long in a short inflorescence; corolla violet or rarely white; lobes of upper lip small, subentire, shorter than lower; lower with the central emarginate lobe the longest.
Flowering UK: Early July-mid Sept
